Company Description – Established in 2022, Hakka Zone Inc. is a Barrie-based restaurant specializing in authentic Indo-Chinese, Hakka Chinese, Thai, and Nepalese cuisine. Founded by an experienced chef with more than 17 years in the restaurant industry, the business offers Halal-certified dishes through dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering services, building strong relationships with customers through quality food and reliable service.

Project Description – As the restaurant grew, manual processes and disconnected systems limited visibility into inventory, food costs, staffing, and sales performance. These operational gaps made it more challenging to manage costs, reduce waste, and make timely decisions in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Through the Retail Modernization Project Grant (RMPG), Hakka Zone implemented a new integrated POS system streamlining ordering, inventory tracking, staff scheduling, and reporting. The system provides real-time insights into food costs, menu profitability, and sales trends, enabling more informed purchasing and operational decisions.

Project Impact – The digital modernization has improved order accuracy, accelerated service, and strengthened control over food costs and labour planning, delivering an estimated 10 per cent increase in productivity and cost savings, and allowing staff to focus more on customer service.
